Watermelon Margaritas

Watermelon margaritas. So refreshing. They're almost like drinking a slurpee from 7-11, only made with healthy fresh fruit, oh and tequila. And the color is so fun. I first had these at a book club meeting (fun book club, right!?) a few weeks ago and they were so good that I just HAD to make them myself. I like them best when the watermelon is not completely pureed, so it's just a tiny bit chunky with tiny ice-y watermelon bites.
Dice and freeze the watermelon a few days in advance so that you have one less thing to do the day you are making them.
Watermelon Margarita

I made a batch of kiddie watermelon margaritas using orange and lime juice in place of the tequila and triple sec. I knew the kids would all want the pretty pink drinks the mommies and daddies were having. Here we are cheers-ing to the summer.

5 servings (serving size: 1 cup)
  • 2 cups diced seeded watermelon, frozen
  • 3/4 cup tequila
  • 1/3 cup triple sec (orange-flavored liqueur)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 cups crushed ice
  • Granulated sugar (optional)
  • Lime slices (optional)
  • Orange slices (optional)
Place frozen watermelon, tequila, triple sec, sugar, and lime juice in a blender; process until smooth. Add ice; process until smooth. Serve in glasses rimmed with sugar, and garnish with lime and orange slices, if desired.
